                               Troy Haschel

She was known to sketch and paint. My father was passionate about the
importance of conserving the environment; in fact several members of my
family were active within the conservation movement, and established
conservation areas long before it was understood how important that would
become.
From my father and maternal grandmother both of whom were avid
gardeners I learned the basics skills of building from the soil up. My
grandmother lived a very simple life-style. She as well as various aunts and
uncles taught me to see the complexity and beauty of the natural world
around us. I learned that flowers feed the soul from the same garden that
provided vegetables to feed the body. My father would say "you cannot
fully appreciate the roses without passing through the thorns". From my
mother's family's native background there was a wonderful "storytelling" or
oral history heritage. At an early age I was trekking through the woods
identifying trees with my father, and learning the uses of many of our native
plant life. At ten I was hatching chicks out in my bedroom much to my
father's distress. Illustrating in watercolors has always been a passion of
mine and I cannot remember a time when I did not paint or draw. However,
I am not a painter I do it because it's my attempt to capture the precious
moments of simple joy that pass by most of us everyday; especially the
innocence of childhood, which should be held sacred.

                               Alexsandra Haschel
Her greatest gift is the gift of gab
which she inherited from her father.
They will tell you it is part of their
                               honored Irish heritage (her Irish
grandfather bought his first farm at
the age of 21 with cash that he had
                               saved). From this background she
                               has a lightheartedness, and almost
steely work ethic, and has never met
                               a stranger.

Alex has a background in design and loves to organize and plan events. She
has taught numerous classes and workshops on floral arranging and
decorating.
She also has worked within our area as a director of tourism for sometime
and will be lending these skills to
E F Home & Co as Public Relations and
in Sales.
Her deep faith is a hallmark of her character.
                               Winston Haschel

Our oldest son; he is really the one that
made all the pieces of this website fit. For
one so young he has an amazing insight
and is a deeply logical thinker. He has
always had a sort "old soul". Winston has
an amazing gift for music and has
taught himself to play the guitar, piano, dulcimer, mandolin,
several wood instruments. We say "that's amazing" he says "it's math". We
stare at each other and wonder what day that class was on.
He is passionately health concious, and has made an intensive study of the
use herbs and supplements. His main focus is on their active components
and the way in which the body uses them. Interestingly, he even made a
study on components of some forms of clay and how they are also used in
natural medicine and maintenance.
Edwin Haschel
Edwin; our youngest son, is about as
rural at heart as one can be. He loves
to draw and paint. He also plays the
harmonica. He is happiest far from
the maddening crowd. He has such a
deep awe for the intricate workings
of nature, and really catches the little
subtleties at work in it. He has one of
the most giving, and forgiving spirits
that has been our privilege to know.
In fact their have been times that we
have laughingly said we will one day
need to tie a string to Edwin's toes to
keep him grounded. Once at age 8 he
developed an entire plan for us to
install animated livestock in our yard
complete with cows, sheep,
goats, and chickens. He was sure that
it was a wonderful way to introduce
town children to farm animals up
close. However we did not proceed
with that one.

I grew up surround by a family of
wonderfully complex characters which were
extremely close-knit on my mother's side. It
was a nurturing environment for a child with
an active imagination.
. My maternal
grandmother was a practicing mid-wife at a
time when the term referred broadly to
include herbalist as well as delivering babies.
